KARACHI, Feb 28 : Dacoits looted cash and jewellery worth millions of rupees after making hostage to guests at marriage hall on Sunday night.
According to police sources, armed robbers barged into a marriage hall located near Nipa Chowrangi area of Gulshan-e-Iqbal and made hostage the guests in the wedding hall at gun point. They looted jewellery, cash, mobile phones and other valuables from women and men. The robbers managed to flee safely alongwith looted valuables worth millions of rupees.
Police arrested six servants and a guard of the hall who were later released after investigation.
According to police a speeding passenger bus crushed to death two motorcyclists Abdul Hafeez 28, and his mother Salma Khatoon near Board Office, North Nazimabad while they were returning home after attending a funeral.
The bodies were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for post mortem. The deceased were residents of Korangi.
The bus driver responsible for the accident managed to escape leaving the vehicle on the spot. The enraged citizens and relatives of the deceased pelted stones on the bus and tried to burn it but police reached the scene and stopped them to do so.
Police recovered bullet riddled dead body of unidentified 25 year old person near Soomro Street, Eidgah Police Station jurisdiction.
During a raid at the hide-out of drug sellers police arrested an accused and recovered drugs and arms from his possession.
According to DSP Zahid Hussain, Walika Police raided hide-out of drug sellers Pervez alias Perveza and Wahab in Pathan Colony.
Police arrested an accused Sardar after exchange of firing and recovered a TT pistol and hashish from his possession. According to police, accomplices of the accused fled the scene.
