ISLAMABAD, Jan 04 : Punjab Governor Salman Taseer was killed in an attack in Kohsar Market F-6/3 Islamabad on Tuesday afternoon.
According to details, the Governor stayed for sometime in the Kohsar Market and as he was sitting in his vehicle, a Commando of the Elite Force who was in one of the two security vehicles of the Governor, fired a burst with his LGM gun at the Governor. The Governor received nine bullets in his neck, chest and other parts of the body.
The Elite Commando, who was part of Governor’s security team has been identified as Qadri was taken into custody immediately. Six other persons were also taken into custody by Islamabad police on suspicion.
The Governor was rushed to Policy Clinic by his guards but he succumbed to critical injuries.
