Pillion riding banned in Lahore for two days

LAHORE, Dec 15 : The city administration Wednesday decided to ban pillion riding in the city as it finalized all the security arrangements for the last two days of Ashura, CCPO Lahore said.

CCPO Lahore Aslam Tareen said the city administration was all set to maintain peaceful atmosphere and avoid untoward situation in the city on the 9th and 10th of Muharram ul Haram.

Talking to media persons, he said more then 20,000 security personnel would be deployed in the city on the two last days of Ashura, while CCTV cameras and walk through gates would also be established on the entry points of Muharram processions.

He said arrangements for aerial monitoring of the processions have also been made. To a question, the CCPO said that a Special Quick Response Force had been formulated which would be put on high alert for to prevent suicide attacks.

"The force would be watching on suspicious person," he added. He said that Bomb Disposal Squad would also be accompanying the major Aushra processions in the city.
