Malik speaks to Fazlur Rahman, JUI (F) chief agrees to meet President

ISLAMABAD, Dec 25 : Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik Saturday telephoned Jammiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazl ur Rehman and assured him to address concerns of JUI (F) in line with President Asif Ali Zardri’s promise.


Sources said that Rehman Malik who is currently on an official visit to Turkey with President Zardari to attend ECO moot in a telephonic conversation with JUI-F chief said that PPP leadership was looking into concerns of JUI-F and would its best to redress them at the earliest.

The Interior Minister told Maulana Fazl ur Rehman that President Zardari has taken notice of his speech in National Assembly and directed him (Malik) to approach the JUI-F for conveying his sentiments.

The sources said that Maulana Fazlur Rahman on request of the President Zardari has agreed to hold detailed meeting with him to discuss the bilateral concerns after his return back from Turkey.

Meanwhile, JUI-F former Minister for Housing and Works, Rehmatullah Kakar who stepped down from his position after decision of parting ways with government, has reached Karachi. Kakar was scheduled to hold meetings with Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) leadership to discuss political issues especially in the backdrop of ongoing scenario.
