KARACHI, Dec 08 : More than 50 huts were gutted after a fire broke out in Kachi Abadis of Tayyeb Goth in Gulshan e Iqbal on Wednesday.
According to rescue sources fire erupted in a hut located in Kachi Abadi of Tayyeb Goth, Gulshan e Iqbal engulfed the surrounding huts.
Residents of the area on self assistance bases tried to put off the fire but due to blowing wind fire spread rapidly.
Upon getting the information of the fire, three fire tenders also reached the spot and tried to put off fire but after failure to overcome the situation more fire tenders were called in.
After two hours hectic efforts fire was brought under control but mean time 50 huts and households present in the huts were gutted.
However, no causality or injury has been reported due to fire. It should be mentioned that repeated fire incidents in the said locality during past six months have caused huge financial losses to resident of the temporary population.
Meanwhile victims of the fire incident have demanded the authorities concerned for compensation so that they could re-establish huts for them especially in the time when winter was in full swing.
