Israel orders its troops to hijack Freedom Flotilla convoy

OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, - The Israeli political leadership on Thursday gave its security and military apparatuses a green light to attack the Freedom Flotilla aid convoy and arrest its participants if they refused to go back.

The commandership of the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) said the ships of this convoy will be warned and ordered to return, but if they did not comply, they will be hijacked and taken to the Israeli port of Ashdod.

The Israeli naval forces had conducted drills on how to seize these vessels and arrest their occupants.

For his part, head of the Turkish IHH relief foundation Bulent Yildirim described the Israeli threats as “ridiculous,” and said that Israel’s high alert state against an aid convoy organized by civil institutions is considered a victory for all participants.

In the same context, MP Jamal Al-Khudari, the head of the popular committee against the siege, said that the ships participating in the Freedom Flotilla convoy will be sailing on Thursday from different ports to meet at a specific point off the coast of Cyprus.

Khudari added in a press release that the convoy will immediately move after meeting at the agreed point, towards Gaza shores to arrive on Saturday morning if not attacked by the Israeli navy.

He stressed that the participants in the convoy are determined to reach Gaza not caring for Israel’s threats to attack them.

The lawmaker reiterated that the convoy is aimed to deliver relief aid to 1,700,000 Palestinian people besieged in Gaza for four years, noting that it is moving according to the law of maritime navigation.
