KARACHI, Jan 27 : Sindh Government is set to appoint non-political administrators replacing nazims throughout the provinces.
Sindh Law Minister Ayaz Soomro told a news conference on Wednesday that the provincial government has prepared a plan to conduct local government elections within 90 days, adding that bill for appointment of administrators has been prepared that will be presented in Sindh Assembly session.
Soomro also disclosed that the bill presented in Balochistan Assembly will be presented in the Sindh Assembly.
After lengthy deliberations with ruling ally, MQM, the PPP-led government has on Wednesday tabled before the provincial assembly the bill of appointing neutral Administrators in the Sindh for three months.
Sindh Minister for Local Government Agha Siraj Durrani said the PPP and MQM had agreed upon appointment of administrators to replace Nazims, however, rejecting any final decision among the parties, Information Technology Minister Muhammad Raza Haroon, who represents MQM, said “the matter is still withheld at the governor and Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah.”
MQM coordination committee member Raza Haroon, said PPP-MQM core committee sat many times to decide fate of the local bodies but no development could had been made, “therefore the matter has been forwarded to Governor Sindh Dr Ishrat Ul-Ibad Khan and the CM to make a final decision in this regard,” he said.
