QUETTA, Jan 26 : Five police personnel including two DSPs among 222 policemen facing charges of stirring chaos and violence in the Chief Minister House and Governor House here, have been arrested Tuesday.
Police personnel Tuesday demanding an increasing in their salaries and other allowances held violent protest rallies on Tuesday during which various citizens and newsmen sustained injuries. The enraged police personnel broke into the CM and Governor House and went on rampage.
The provincial government taking serious notice of the violent incident demoted the CCPO Quetta, Commandant Balochistan Constabulary (CBC) and DIG Operations and made them OSD.
According to communiqué from provincial government Regional Police Officer Sibi, Ghulam Shabbir Sheikh have been awarded with additional charge of CCP and Project Director Balochistan Constabulary whereas Regional Police Officer Khuzdar Ijaz Asif Sheikh have been given Additional charge of DIG Operation.
Chief Minister Balochistan talking to the media persons said that now compromise would be made in taking action against police personnel involved in creating chaos at Governor and CM House and holding violent protest rallies.
He said that law violators have not right to be spared and stern actions would be taken against them.
The Acting IG Police Akbar Arain said the policemen who came on duty Tuesday, were not given the weapons; however, some police were allowed to have them where it was deemed necessary.
The FC men have been deployed at Police Training College, Police Lines and Anti-Terror Force Headquarters. Also, additional contingents of the FC forces have been positioned in various areas of the city to avert any similar incident.
Also the weapon repository has been shut down at Police Training College and Police Line.
