Driver of Chief Secretary Punjab held in death of retd. colonel: Sannullah

LAHORE, Jan 26 : Police arrested Tuesday driver of the Punjab Chief Secretary responsible for the death of a retired army colonel, in a road accident said the Provincial Law Minister Rana Sanaullah.

Talking to newsmen he said that driver of CS Ghulam Mustafa has been arrested by police after registering a case against him.

The rashly driven car of Chief Secretary Punjab Javed Mehmood Qazi crushed to death a colonel (Retd.) Ikram while heading towards Allama Iqbal International Airport Lahore to say see off Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani on Sunday.

The injured colonel (Retd.) Ikram who was critically injured in the accident was shifted to Combined Military Hospital (CMH) later succumbed to his injuries in a hospital.

The police adopted a dilly-dally tactics in registering a case by the son of the deceased colonel, owing to pressure from the high ups. Later a case was registered on behalf of a policeman against driver of the car ignoring the repeated request of the deceased’s son for registering a case on his behalf.
