CM Balochistan offers mediation between PPP-PML-N

ISLAMABAD,: Chief Minister Balochistan Nawab Aslim Riasani has offered mediation between the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-N to remove their differences on various issues.

The offer came at a time when the two major political parties of the country were at odds over various issues and the two parties were issuing fiery statements against each other’s top leadership.

Raisani, who is at believed to have good relations with PML-N leader and his Punjab ’s counterpart Shahbaz Sharif, made this offer in an exclusive chat with INP here on Tuesday.

Vowing to initiate solo efforts to remove differences between the two parties, Raisani said he will hold separate meetings with President Asif Ali Zardari and Shahbaz Sharif and will convince them to sit together to remove differences for the sake of democracy in the country.

“The two sides are trading allegations which is not good for the democracy in the country,” he said PML-N Quaid Mian Nawaz Sharif and President Zardari have respect for each other which is a good omen for the country and democratic system.

Regretting on the remarks of Governor Punjab Sulman Taseer and counter-statements from the PML-N leaders he said the two parties had signed a historic document of Charter of Democracy and should they should be abided by it.

“The two sides should immediately stop allegations trade,” he said he will play his role to remove difference between the two parties as he did on the occasion of Governor’s Rule in Punjab.

The Chief Minister Balochistan expressed satisfaction on the implementation of Aghaz-e-Haqooq-e-Balochistan package saying it was being implemented in phases and the central government has assured the province that the complete implementation of the package will be ensured.

The Chief Minister said the broader consensus on the National Finance Commission (NFC) Award was a major achievement and gave its credit to the Chief Minister Punjab and PPP government.

He said the NFC Award was a fruit of democracy and it will benefit all the provinces specially Balochistan, where a sense of deprivation will be removed from the people.

Raisani said he was waiting for the outcome of the parliamentary committee on constitutional reforms, but said he was confident that the government will ensure implementation of Aghaz-e-Haqooq-e-Balochistan package.

He said representatives of Balochistan in the national assembly were working to safeguard provincial rights at the national level, while the constitutional reforms committee was working on the constitutional issues.

About his meeting earlier in the day with Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani, he said he has discussed the implementation of Balochistan package and the Prime Minister has assured him that the federal government will implement the package completely.

To a question, Raisani told INP that the adjournment motion tabled by Chairman Senate on the US immigration policy was a right and commendable step.

“At least someone has a sense of national honour and has voiced against the shameful behaviour of the US officials with Pakistani nationals. I strongly condemn the US immigration policy,” he added.

The Chief Minister also appreciated the announcement of Senator Israrullah Zehri, who has decided that he will not visit the US until this new immigration policy is abolished.

When asked about US consulate officials arrested in Gwadar on using fake registration plate at their vehicle, he said they were arrested for violation of the law and everyone was equal in the eyes of law. INP
