WEST BANK,- A Palestinian prisoner on hunger strike has been transferred from Israel's Ashkelon prison to the Ramle prison hospital due to a serious health condition, sources in the prison said.
The prisoner Yousef Sakafi, 38, from Al-Khalil city has been fasting for the past 34 days.
Sakafi, who is serving four life sentences, is the father of Abeer, who died in April after falling into a coma after going into shock when she was prevented from hugging her father during a visit while he was held in Israeli custody.
Sakafi, who has a heart condition, was sitting in section 5 of the Ashkelon central prison, which lacks all medical procedures, according to sources. A year ago he underwent a retinal transplant after suffering a heart attack.
In addition, Sakafi has kidney problems and his health condition is constantly deteriorating, as he is no longer able to stand and suffers from severe weakness and constant dizziness.
Sakafi was moved suddenly from Beersheva prison to Ashkelon and was severely beaten by the Nahshon and Metzada special units despite his deteriorating health condition.
