ISLAMABAD, May 09 : Pakistan People Party leadership has sought written explanation from former foreign minister and party central leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi for demanding resignation from President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on the last week US operation in Abbottabad.
Party sources told INP that the party leadership has taken strong reservation for his sarcastic remarks against the top leadership of the party and asked him to explain his position in black and white.
Former foreign minister's terms with the ruling party became soured on the CIA contractor Raymond Davis issue and the party leadership began to keep him in at distance and despite Qureshi being member of the Central Executive Committee (CEC) he had not been invited in the party's meetings.
Sources added that PPP is seriously contemplating to cancel his CEC membership as well as his basic party membership on the basis of his recent mocking assertions against the party top leadership.Sources further said that staunch supporter of President Zardari and party leaders belonging to Sindh are strongly advocating to expel him from the party be cancelling Qureshi's basic party membership.
