Talks failed, young doctors to continue strike

ISLAMABAD, April 02 : Federal Secretary Health, Narguis Setti efforts failed to achieve results as Young Doctors Association (YDA) decided to continue their strike on Saturday. President YDA, Dr Muhammad Ajmal said "The Joint Action Committee of the YDA held a meeting On Saturday and decided to continue strike as the ministries of health officias were using delaying tactics."

On Friday, the secretary health had assured the YDA she would send the summary of their demands to the prime minister for further action. The YDA told the secretary that they would decide whether to end strike or not.

Dr Ajmal said that on Saturday, he talked to secretary health on phone but her response was not positive. He said they do not want to disturb the patients but they were compelled to continue strike as the authorities were not paying any heed to their woes.

He said on one side Pakistan Peoples Party senior leader in Punjab, Raja Riaz is supporting the YDA Punjab and on the other hand PPP leadership is even not ready to discuss their demands.

He said the government should resolve their issue on war footings other the situation would deteriorate further. He said they have also closed the
service at elective operation theater.
