PM meets Nawaz Sharif in London, inquires about his health, discusses > political situation

LONDON, April 08 : Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani met the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Quaid Mian Nawaz Sharif at his London residence on Friday and inquired about his health and exchanged views on political situation in the country.

The prime minister, who is on a private visit to London in connection with the operation of his son Haider Gilani, drove to the residence of Mian Nawaz Sharif where the PML-N Quaid warmly received him.

Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani inquired about the health of Nawaz Sharif and prayed for his early recovery.

Sources said the PML-N Quaid told the prime minister that he was recuperating fast and hopes to return to Pakistan in early May. He thanked the prime minister for inquiring about his health earlier over the telephone.

Nawaz Sharif also asked from the prime minister about the operation of his son and hoped that he would recover from the illness very soon. Gilani thanked Nawaz Sharif for sending his son Hassan Nawaz Sharif to the hospital to inquire about the health of Haider Gilani.

The sources further said that the two leaders during the meeting exchanged views on overall political situation in the country.

Gilani also briefed Mian Nawaz Sharif about his meeting with Indian Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh in Mohali which helped in reduction of tension and laid the foundation for resumption of ties in all fields including sports.

Nawaz termed it as a major breakthrough and said peace and stability in the region is in the interest of the two peoples.
