PM Gilani meets MQM chief in London

LONDON: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani held a meeting with Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief in London and discussed with him the national political scenario.

Gilani on Saturday arrived at MQM International Secretariat to meet Altaf Hussain.

Sources said the two leaders exchanged views over the country’s current political and economic state of affairs, including the situation in Karachi. They reportedly agreed to continue cooperating with each other on various public issues.

The PM assured the MQM leadership that the government ally would be taken onboard under PPP’s national reconciliation policy.

Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik and High Commissioner to UK Wajid Shamsul Hassan and other officials accompanied the Prime Minister, while members of MQM’s Coordination Committee were also present in the meeting.

The PM welcomed MQM’s activates in Punjab and congratulated Mr. Hussain for organizing a mass meeting in Lahore.
