ISLAMABAD: The federal government has decided to constitute an institution for higher studies which has been named as Standard for Higher Education Commission (SHEC), SAMAA reported Friday.
According to sources, SHEC will function in place of Higher Education Commission (HEC).
Also, the Ministry of Finance has withheld HEC’s last quarter’s grant of Rs. 7.7 billion of the current fiscal year.
HEC’s officials said that the finance ministry was requested to release this grant but, declining the plea, the ministry put off this matter till the final decision on government’s devolution plan.
