President addresses Parliament

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari will become the first democratically elected head of the State in history of the country as he started addressing the joint sitting of the Parliament Tuesday for the consecutive fourth time on the advent of new parliamentary year.

Speaker National Assembly Dr Fehmida Mirza was chairing the joint session of Parliament.

As the President started his address to the parliament, the members of Muslim League (Nawaz), JUI-F and Jamat Islami staged walk out of the parliament session.

Addressing the parliament the president said that Pakistan has sacrificed most while fighting against terrorism. He paid tribute to the state institutions and the people for their sacrifices in the war against terrorism.

President Zardari in the beginning of his address condemned sacrilege of the holy Quran in Florida, United States and called the parliament to pass a resolution of condemnation against the abominable act. He called the United States to take notice of the incident.
