One killed, 9 cops among 11 injured in Hangu, Mattani blasts

PESHAWAR, March : One person was killed and 11 others, including nine police personnel, were wounded in separate incidents in Mattani and Hangu areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Wednesday.

Police said that a police mobile van was targeted with improvised explosive device (IED) planted at roadside in Darsamand area of district Hangu. As a result 11 persons, including nine cops and two passers-by sustained injuries. The police van was also badly damaged.

The injured police personnel were shifted to Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Tall for treatment. Police cordoned off the area and apprehended five suspected militants.

In the second incident, a donkey cart owner was killed when the donkey cart hit a land-mine planted on roadside in Mattani area.

The Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) and police personnel arrived at the spot and said that landmine was planted to target law enforcement agencies personnel.

Meanwhile, a CD shop in Hangu bazaar was blown up with explosive device. However, no loss of life was reported in the incident.
