SWAT, March 08 : Heavy snowfall in different hilly areas of Swat in the past week continues to affect the normal life of the citizens as road links of the hilly areas are cut off from the rest of the country.
Kalam, Bahrain and Shangla had received heavy snowfall where people remained confined to their houses and supply of essential items was disrupted..
All the markets of the upper areas have been closed due to extremely cold weather and snowfall. Kalam road has been closed for last one month.
About 65 Kilometer road from Kalam to Bahrain has been swept away by the flash flood during the monsoon and restored temporarily later on has also been closed due to snowfall.
Sources said that due to close roads some 50 % population of Kalam has been stranded in the area that was facing shortage of food items and medicines.
