350 Pakistanis arrive from Libya through chartered planes, 10,000 still > stranded

LAHORE, Feb 01 : Around 350 Pakistani emigrants evacuated from Libya arrived in Lahore on Tuesday.

The expatriates arrived in the city on two special chartered planes. Some 170 Pakistanis arrived in Lahore on a Turkish Airlines flight, whereas 180 Pakistanis reached here in the second flight.

Over 10,000 Pakistanis are still stranded in Libya and require the government's attention.

The passengers arriving Lahore told that they were evacuated via Turkish Airlines but the Pakistani embassy in Libya did not cooperate with them. The passengers said that they were sitting hungry and thirsty at the airport for last three days. Some passengers told that they were also tortured in Libya.

Provincial Minister Chaudhry Abdul Ghafoor received the passengers and they were seen off to their hometowns in buses which were provided by the Punjab government.
