Karachi petrol pumps shutter down

KARACHI: Petrol Pumps in Karachi were shutdown Monday, on the call of Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association to press for hike in commission. The filling stations on Super Highway and National Highway were also closed.

"It is the first phase in which petrol pumps have been closed in Karachi,if the demands not fulfilled, countrywide srike will be observed," dealers association chairman Abdul Sami Khan said .

He said rising expenses, sale of smuggled petroleum and diesel and minimum commission have made the business difficult for the dealers. He demanded fifty paisa per litre hike in dealers commission and ban on sale of the smuggled petroleum.
