Security in twin cities put on high alert after reports of entry of a Taliban commander

ISLAMABAD, Jan 08 : Law enforcement agencies has beefed up security in and around the Capital after intelligence reports that Taliban Commander Qari Shakeel Ahmad, member of banned Tehrek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has managed to enter the twin cities.

Taliban Commander Qari Shakeel Ahmad is resident of Bajur Agency of Pakistani Tribal areas and important member of TTP. Law enforcement agencies have deployed commandos and other security personnel at various sensitive government installations after receiving information about his entry in the twin cities.

Senior Superintendent Police (Operations) of Islamabad Tahir Alam Khan told the media that security forces have received information about the entry of a terrorist in either of the two cities.

SSP said that security of the Secretariat, district courts, sensitive government buildings, markets and other sensitive areas has been put on high vigil and law enforcement agencies officials were deployed over there.

Tahir Alam urged the people to inform the officials concerned whenever they watch any suspicious person in their surroundings, adding that only with the help of the public peace could be established in the country.
