Rehman Malik denies MQM's demand of sacking Zulfikar Mirza

KARACHI, Jan 01 : Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik has rejected the reports regarding Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) demands to remove Home Minister Sindh Dr. Zulfiqar Mirza from his office.

Talking to media persons here on Saturday, Rehman Malik dispelled the impression that MQM has demanded of the sitting PPP government to sack Zulfiqar Mirza saying it a baseless.

He said the PPP in accordance with the agenda of its slain party's leadership, wanted to take all stakeholders along in the larger interests of the country.

He said that MQM being part of the coalition government was justified to express concerns over the policies of the government. However, he said that government was sparing no efforts to remove the concerns of the MQM but there wasn't any such plan to terminate Zulfiqar Mirza from his government's responsibilities.

The Interior Minister said that the PPP leadership always followed politics of reconciliation in the larger interests of the country and it would address the concerns raised by MQM.

He said that Commissionerate System Restoration Bill would not be tabled in Sindh Assembly without consulting the MQM.
