ISLAMABAD, Jan 01 : Pakistan and India exchanged the lists of their respective nuclear installations and facilities on Saturday as part of the agreement between the neighbouring countries.
The two countries exchange the list of nuclear sites on the first day of every New Year under an agreement signed by former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto and her Indian counterpart Rajiv Gandhi in 1989 which came into force in 1991.
The first exchange took place on Jan 1, 1992, under the Agreement on Prohibition of Attack against Nuclear Installations and Facilities between Pakistan and India. The lists were handed over to Pakistani and Indian High Commissions in Islamabad and New Delhi.
In Islamabad, Political Consular of Indian High Commission Sri Niwas was given the list by the Foreign Office while at the same time the Pakistani High Commissioner to Indian Shahid Malik was handed over the same from the Indian side in New Delhi.
Along with the nuclear data, the two countries also exchanged lists of prisoners.
