KARACHI, Jan 01 : Three persons were killed and more than 75 others injured in separate road mishaps and firing incidents in connection new years celebrations, police said.
According to police, two motorcyclists whose identity has not been confirmed were killed after being hit by a speeding car while crossing traffic signal at Khalid Bin Walid Road.
The bodies were shifted to Jinnah Hospital for autopsy. Eye witnesses said that two TT pistols were recovered from possession of killed youth, however, police haven't confirmed the recovery of arms.
In Korangi area near Chamrra Chourangi, a member of National Volunteer Police Force, identified as Shakoor 35, was killed.
At least 70 people including children and women were injured during overnight aerial firing incidents in connection with new year celebrations.
Despite imposition of section 144, police, Rangers and others law enforcement agencies failed to stop the aerial firing and the city remained sounded with bullets shots on Friday night.
Hundreds of youth took out to streets to observe the new year celebrations by dancing at music and doing one-wheeling on motorcycling. Though police tried to stop the youth from one-wheeling and hooting, but it seemed to be failed completely in bringi8ng the overjoyed youth into its control.
The injured people were shifted to various hospitals of the mega city where according to hospital sources, several among the injured were stated to be in critical situation.
