Woman killed as bomb hits a police van

PESHAWAR, Dec 14 : A bomb hit a police patrol and killed a passer-by woman in Nagaman area at Charsadda Road here on Tuesday.

According to police, the bomb was planted by some unidentified miscreants at the roadside to target police van.

"The bomb went off as soon as the van approached the spot," a police official said. He said a passer-by woman received severe injuries in the blast, while the police vehicle was partially damaged in the attack.

The injured woman was taken to hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

Bomb disposal squad
said that at least two kilograms of explosives were used in the attack.

The local police and security forces cordoned off the area following the attack and an investigation was launched into the incident.

This was sixth bombing in eight days in the country and second similar attack in two days in Peshawar. Another bombing hit a school-bus on Monday, killing a passer-by in Bhana Mari area of the city.
