UK urged for sending ISI chief to India

News in Urdu

WASHINGTON: British government had pressed Pakistan for sending ISI Chief to India after Mumbai terror attacks, a secret U.S. cable made public by WikiLeaks shows.

The confidential document shows that the then British Foreign Secretary David Miliband had called Mr. Zardari, asking him to send the ISI chief to India, to which the President readily agreed.

President Zardari later told the British government that the military has rejected the demand of sending the ISI chief to India.

WikiLeaks has disclosed the conversation between US Senator John McCain and former president Pervez Musharraf in which latter talked about the possibility of the presence of al Qaida top leaders Osama Bin Laden and Ayman Al-Zawahiri in Bajaur tribal region.

The US embassy cables disclosed Musharraf as saying that although he had no direct evidence, he thought al Qaeda leaders Osama Bin Laden and Ayman al-Zawahiri were hiding in Bajaur Agency, bordering Afghanistan's Kunar province where US forces were not deployed.
