SC allows families to meet prisoners

ISLAMABAD : Supreme Court Friday issued orders for permitting 11 prisoners of Adiala Jail meeting with their families.

The prisoners were missing and the intelligence agencies Thursday confirmed before the Supreme Court that they have been in their custody.

Raja Irshad, the counsel of the agencies, during hearing of the missing prisoners case confirmed before a three-member bench of the apex court, headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry that the missing prisoners are alive and have been in custody of the Military Intelligence (MI) and Inter Services Intelligence (ISI).

The counsel said that the under custody persons are high profile terrorists facing court martial proceedings.

Counsel Raja Irshad today submitted a written statement in the court on behalf of the intelligence agencies.

According to sources, the agencies have requested the court to settle the case as soon as possible.

The court adjourned the hearing till the first week of January.
