No role in purchasing costly land in Bara Kahu: Rehmatullah Kakar

ISLAMABAD, Dec 23 : Former Federal Minister for Housing Rehmatullah Kakar said on Thursday that he had nothing to do with purchasing land on expensive prices in Bara Kahu locality of the federal capital.

Taking to media persons outside the Parliament House, Kakar said he not only welcomes probe into the issue by the NAB, but also ready to extend full cooperation to NAB in this connection.

He said Federal Government Housing Foundation, which is governed by an independent board, had decided to purchase this land in Bara Kahu. He said, “Federal Secretary for Housing, by virtue of his designation, is the chairman of this board whereas top officials of Cabinet Division, Ministry of Finance and other concerned Ministry are the members of this board”.

Maulana Attaur Rehman said he would be ready to appear before the NAB authorities if he is summoned to record his statement on the issue.

The JUI-F leader expressed his surprise that the probe into issue of purchasing land in Bara Kahu area of the federal capital was initiated when his party quit the coalition government. He said his party had joined the coalition government under an agreement.

Maulana Attaur Rehman said they had already dispatched their resignations to the Prime Minister and now it is up to the government to accept these resignations and issue notification in this regard.
