No one can force ISI to appear in US court

ISLAMABAD, Dec 23 : Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani has categorically stated that no one can force ISI officials to appear before the US courts and Pakistan will not receive dictation from any one for launching operation in North Waziristan.

Speaking in the National Assembly here Thursday while replying to leader of the opposition, the Prime Minister said ISI is a sensitive and important state institution and no one can summon it without Government approval. He said if the ISI did not want, no one will force it to appear in the US court

Referring to concerns about launching of military operation in North Waziristan, Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani asserted that no one can dictate us and it would be a decision of Pakistani nation whether to launch the military operation or not.

“No one can dictate us on our internal issues and the government will take all decisions in the supreme national interest” he declared. He said political leadership and the entire nation would be consulted before operation in North Waziristan.

“We took all political stakeholders on board well before launching the operations in Swat, Malakand and South Waziristan”, the Premier said and added that the Government has already held meetings of DCC and NCA and there would be no compromise on the integrity and sovereignty of the country.

“For the defence of the country we can sacrifice our lives” he declared.

About Balochistan, the Prime Minister said there is foreign interference and the Government would like to devise a policy in consultation with the stake holders and political leadership to improve the situation.

He said FC is under the control of Balochistan government and cannot act without government’s permission. He said the Interior Minister who is in Turkey now will take the House into confidence about the arrest of Shahzain Bugti in Quetta yesterday.

The Prime Minister said the economy and law & order are on the top agenda of the present government and it is our utmost effort to bring peace in the society as no economic progress can be made with out improvement in law & order. He made it clear that action will be taken where ever the write of the state is challenged.
