Labours protest gas load shedding

FAISALABAD, Dec 30 : Hundreds of labours and daily wagers of Faisalabad industries Thursday lodged a strong protest over four-day a week gas load shedding in the city.

The workers took out a rally from Jang Road and staged a sit-in for several hours blocking traffic flow on the road.

The protesters said that gas load shedding of 20 days a month has left them with work opportunity of ten days a month. “Daily wagers have no work and they are starving,” they lamented.

The factories and power looms have almost stopped production and thousands are rendered jobless while they have no other source of income, said labour leaders on the occasion.

They said that electricity load shedding for indefinite hours was also adding to the problems for the industries.

They appealed Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani to take notice of the situation and save thousands of families from starvation.

They chanted slogans against the government and Sui Northern Gas Company.

Chairman of Pakistan Hosiery Manufacturer Association, Salamat Ali said that the government promised that only 2 day gas load shedding will be observed from January but Sui Northern Gas did not imply upon government’s promise.
