Jamali steps down as Chairman APML Steering Committee

KARACHI, Dec 09 : Former Prime Minister Mir Zafar Khan Jamali stepped down as ChairmJustify Fullan Steering Committee of All Pakistan Muslim League (APML), after failure in his efforts to bring both embattled major factions of the Muslim League - Pakistan Muslim League-Q and Pakistan Muslim League-N - under the umbrella of recently constituted the APML, INP learnt here on Thursday.

Sources privy with the political development said that Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali presented his resignation during his meeting with the central leader of the All Pakistan Muslim League, Pir
Pagara at Kingri House in Karachi.

Jamali had been nominated as Chairman Steering Committee of All Pakistan Muslim League and entrusted with a task to make efforts to bring various factions of the Muslim Leagues particularly PML-N and PML-Q at the platform of the APML.

Jamali informed Pir Pagara about efforts on his part and other members of the Steering Committee and outcome of the talks held with the PML-N chief Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif
and the PML-Q President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain wooing them to join APML. Mr. Jamali showed his unwillingness to keep continuing his efforts in wake of the adamant and non-cooperative attitude of the leaders of both the factions.

The sources said that Pir Pagara appreciated the efforts of Jamali led Steering Committee, but regretted the attitude of leaders of both the factions.

The sources said that in the wake of the current development arisen, Pir Pagara has convened a meeting of the APML within next few days on the issues whether or not to accept resignation of Mr. Jamali.
