Indian opposition asks PM to order JPC into 2G scam or quit

NEW DELHI, Dec 22 : The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance has taken its anti-corruption offensive against the Congress-led government to the streets.

The alliance kick started its nation-wide campaign against the UPA Government at a massive rally in New Delhi on Wednesday with leaders calling for the resignation of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh following allegations of various scams in his regime.

Former BJP president LK Advani said that the rally is the beginning of a struggle against corruption and the agitation would be taken to all over India.

"Till the time Budget Session begins we will be carrying out rallies across the country. Anti-corruption rallies will be held in Assam, Maharashtra, Orissa, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Punjab," said Advani while addressing a massive rally at the Ram Lila Ground in New Delhi.

The former BJP president said that even the Supreme Court had for the first time in the history asked the Prime Minister's Office to submit an affidavit on what happened in the 2G scam case.

"My biggest complaint from the Prime Minister is that despite being a Prime Minister, the rights that Constitution has given to him and by the people to tackle corruption, he couldn't exercise those rights. The main reason for this movement is corruption only. I request the Prime Minister that he should exercise his rights on constituting a JPC. This movement will finish UPA and Congress”.

Earlier, another senior BJP leader, Arun Jaitley, demanded that Manmohan Singh should immediately constitute a JPC of submit his resignation.

The rally was held just two days after the Congress Plenary in New Delhi where the ruling party launched a blistering attack on the BJP and its allies.
