China-Pakistan sign 13 agreements, MoUs

ISLAMABAD, Dec 18 Pakistan and China have signed 13 agreements and Memoranda of Understanding to boost cooperation in trade and economy, infrastructure development, agriculture, energy, information and culture.

The agreements and MoUs were signed by Minister for Foreign Affairs Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Minister for Finance Abdul Hafeez Sheikh, Railway Minister Ghulam Ahmad Bilour, officials representing different organizations and their Chinese counterparts at a ceremony held in Islamabad.

Director General Radio Pakistan Murtaza Solangi and Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Liu Juan signed agreement for expanding cooperation between Radio Pakistan and China Radio International.

The agreements signed pertain to provision of 200 million dollar as economic and technical support for agriculture related projects; utilization of 200 million dollar aid provided by China for flood affected areas and a concessional loan to Pakistan for procurement and installation of
Non-Intrusive Vehicle X-Ray Inspection System.

Other agreements relate to Islamabad Safe City project, maritime cooperation, railway, agriculture, communication and Chinese participation in exploration and production of power from Thar coal reserves.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by Prime Ministers of the two countries.
