Sukkar : Terror bid in PPP public meeting foiled

SUKKAR : Excise Police on Tuesday claimed to have recovered a cache of arms near a ground where Foundation Day ceremony of Pakistan Peoples Party was being held.

Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani also addressed the mass gathering here today.

Report said the Excise Police conducted raid on a house near the ground where mass gathering was held in connection with PPP’s 43th foundation day.

Officials said they recovered a huge cache of arms containing hand grenades, Kalashnikovs, rocket launchers and other destructive ammunitions.

However, the police did not disclose whether or not any suspect was arrested in the action.

Sources said the ammunition was stored for any possible terror plot on the occasion of PPP’s mass gathering.

Besides PM Gilani, Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah and other high-ups attended the gathering.

Earlier today addressing a public meeting in Peshawar, Gilani pledged the unveiling of the murderers of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto with the help of the workers of the PPP.

The Prime Minister said there were some procedural requirements and the government was following them. He said that the murders of Benazir Bhutto would be brought to justice soon.
