More than 600 arrested by Abbas's militia

WEST BANK, (PIC)-- The latest campaign of arrests against Hamas members and its supporters which started after the attack on settlers in al-Khalil has continued with the number of people arrested exceeding 600, including a number of leading Hamas figures in the West Bank.

Released prisoners talk of PA detention centres and prisons being overcrowded and of tens of detainees being brutally tortured, especially in the districts of Ramallah and al-Khalil.

The PIC has the names of 454 people who have been arrested by Abbas's militia over the past few days from various West Bank districts: 95 from al-Khalil district, 31 from Qalqilya district, 62 from Nablus district, 52 from Jenin district, 73 from Tulkarem district, 33 from Salfit district, 20 from Tubas district, 28 from Bethlehem district, 22 from Jericho district, 34 from Ramallah district and 4 from Jerusalem district.
