ISLAMABAD, Sep 7 (INP): Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani Tuesday appreciated the role played by the officers and Jawans of the armed forces particularly the Army in the rescue and relief operations in the flood hit areas.
He especially lauded the timely response of the Army aviation in rescuing the stranded people in these areas.
He was talking to Chief of the Army Staff, General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, who called on him at PM's House here Tuesday afternoon.
The Prime Minister said that the Armed forces have an important role to play in the upcoming phases of reconstruction and rehabilitation in the flood hit areas.
The Army Chief briefed the Prime Minister about the relief activities being carried out by the army. He also apprised the Prime Minister about the overall security situation of the country.
