Karachi killings toll rises to 61



KARACHI: Pakistan's southern port city Karachi has been tense as the death toll in shooting incidents has reached to 61 after murder of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) lawmaker Raza Haider and his gunman on Monday.

Most of the petrol pumps in the city have been shutdown with scarce attendance in offices and educational institutions.

Unknown gunmen Tuesday night gunned down four person at Korangi Crossing. Two people were killed in PIB Colony and Jauhar Abad today. In Orangi Town two more persons were shot dead and another injured by armed goons in Hariana Colony, while two other slain in Bukhari Colony. A man was shot dead in Arambagh area.

Several arson incident have also been reported in the city as angry mobs set 10 trucks on fire in Essa Nagri. Several houses were set ablaze in Katti Pahari locality, while shops were burnt in Saddar area.

The death toll in violence triggered after assassination of the MQM lawmaker has reached to 61 as the city wore deserted look and the businesses have been closed.
