SC adjourns 18th Amendment hearing

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court Wednesday adjourned hearing of the petitions challenging various clauses of the 18th constitutional amendment.

Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammed Chaudhry during the hearing observed that the constitution is a live document and every article of it should be implemented.

The government of Punjab in its rejoinder filed in the court today said the parliament has mandate to amend the constitution.

The full bench of the apex court headed by the Chief Justice hearing the petitions against 18th amendment.

The counsel of the Bar Hamid Khan Advocate continued his arguments today.

The chief justice in his remarks said the court's right to review the constitutional amendment could not be restricted. He also observed that the clause about referendem has been given in the constitution to get people's opinion on key issues.
