LPG prices slashed by Rs. 6/kg

KARACHI, : The government has further reduced prcies of Liquefied Petroleum Gas by Rs. 6 per kilogram.

According to details, the marketing companies had slashed the LPG prices by Rs. 6 per kilogram in Karachi and Lahore during the week as its sales have plunged by 40 percent.

The chairman of FPCCI Standing Committee on LPG and All Pakistan LPG Distributors Association Abdul Hadi Khan said here on Monday that price of 11.8kg cylinder has been reduced by Rs 25 to 30 to Rs 655-650 while 45.4kg cylinder are down by Rs 83 to Rs 2,517.

Hadi said retail price of LPG in Peshawar has been reduced to Rs 65 per kg while in Swat and Northern Areas, the LPG is being sold at Rs 70 to 71 per kg.

He said that 11.8kg cylinder is sold at Rs 660 while 45.4kg cylinder is available at Rs 2,577 in Peshawar .

In Swat and northern areas, 11.8kg cylinder is being sold at Rs 700 and 45.4kg cylinder at Rs 2,693.

Hadi noted that though Saudi Aramco price has increased to $ 718 per ton, local prices of LPG have declined due to unsold stocks.

He stated that 20 percent of the distributors had also closed down their businesses posing threats to the entire LPG sector.

LPG import had been stopped since last three months due to high international prices, he said.

The chairman of FPCCI Standing Committee on LPG and All Pakistan LPG Distributors Association urged the government to bring down prices of locally produced LPG to enable poor to again use this cheaper alternate fuel. He was of the opinion that locally produced LPG should be sold at Rs 35,000 MT or Rs 35 per kg.
