India repatriates 25 Pak prisoners

LAHORE, May 28 : India on Friday repatriated 25 Pakistani prisoners through the Wagah border, who were languishing in different Indian jails for past many years.

Pak prisoners arrested on charges like spying, terrorist related activities, infiltration into Indian soil and visa violation were released from Jammu & Kashmir, Agra , Allahabad and Jodhpur jails, officials at Attari border said.

They were in Indian jails for 6 to 14 years, the sources added.

They crossed over to their mother country on the basis of "Emergency Travelling Certificate" issued by Pakistan High Commission after verifying their antecedents.

According to Indian officials posted at Indo-Pak border here all the Pak nationals at the time of cross-over were enormously happy.

At the Wagah border their relatives and officials extended them warm welcome as soon as they crossed Joint Check Post.
