UNESCO has no plan to close its office in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, Jan 21 : UNESCO has no plan to close its office in Pakistan. UNESCO’s Pakistan office has been operating since 1957 and is one of the oldest offices in Asia-Pacific region, says a press release.

Clarifying a news report it said no meeting of the “Executive Committee and country directors of the Asia-Pacific region” will be held on 29 January to discuss the matter; nor has a meeting been held here in Pakistan on this topic.

As part of the “One UN” pilot in Pakistan, UNESCO is fully committed to continue the whole range of its programmes in Pakistan including both development and humanitarian work. INP
