QUETTA, Jan 26: At least five policemen were arrested and cases against 250 others have been lodged on charges of creating chaos during their violent protest for the raise of salaries.
These policemen were charged for violence during their protest for raise in salaries.
According to Acting IG Police Akbar Arain, the police personnel were not given weapons on Tuesday. However, some policemen were allowed to have them where it was considered necessary.
The action was taken after a Monday protest by the policemen, who turned violent during the protest and badly tortured and harassed journalists covering the rally.
The Acting IGP said FC personnel have been deployed at Police Training College, Police Lines and Anti-Terror Force Headquarters. Also, additional contingents of the FC forces had been positioned in various areas of the city.
Also the weapon repository had been shut down at Police Training College and Police Line.
