Massive terror plot foiled in Bannu, police seizes 37 maund of explosive

BANNU,: A massive terror plot in Bannu was foiled as police recovered 37 maunds of explosive from a vehicle during search in Kotbeli area at Bannu-Peshawar Road.

According to details the police on the special directives of D I G. Police Bannu, Muhammad Masood Khan Afridi launched a massive search operation against miscreants and terrorist under the supervision of SP Bannu Iqbal Khan Marwat. The police tried to stop a suspected vehicle at Bannu-Peshawar Road in Kotbeli area but the drive tried to flee alongwith vehicle. The police chased the vehicle and opened fire which caused the vehicle turned turtle> near Frontier Headquarters Tochi Scouts. The driver however managed to> escape from the scene.During search the police recovered five gas cylinders with 10 kg explosive> each and 10 drums containing 37 maunds of explosive. Besides six batteries> attached to modern remote control system were also recovered.

The police said that explosive was being brought to Bannu for terror plots at religious places including Mosques, Imambargah's and other places of Majalis of Muharram however police action saved the city from massive> destruction.After the incident heavy FC and police contingent with modern weapons and> technology have been deployed at all routes leading and exiting from Bannu.The citizens of Bannu have expressed their satisfaction over police action> and hoped that police commitment to cope with terrorist and terrorism would help in restoring peace in the district.INP
