MQM to support all efforts to promote peace: Raza Haroon

KARACHI -Opposition Leader in the Sindh Assembly Raza Haroon said on Saturday that they would extend full cooperation to every effort designed to develop brotherhood among different sections of the society and establish peace in Karachi.

He was addressing a press conference at Khursheed Begum Secretariat, Azizabad here.

Other members of MQM Rabita Committee, Kanwer Khalid Younis, Mrs Nasreen Jaleel, Gulfaraz Khan Khatak, Wasey Jaleel and MQM leader Aamir Khan were also present on the occasion.

Strongly condemning the violent incidents of July 22, in Malir, Khokharapar and Landhi, Raza Haroon said the elementswho are involved in violence, are not friends either of Karachi or Karachiites.

He said the MQM is a pro-democracy political party, which respects the mandate and political ideologies of all parties.

Raza said his party wants to establish a tranquil environment in Sindh, especially, in Karachi and is making sincere efforts in this regard.

He said his party has decided to agree to the return of Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan as the Sindh Governor to bring stability and peace in the province.

He said MQM Chief Altaf Hussain has also appealed to heads, leaders and activists of various parties to set aside their differences and play their role for the cause of peace.

It is regrettable that those elements who do not want to bring stability and peace in Karachi, are targeting the MQM, he added.

He appealed to authorities concerned to arrest the culprits involved in violence in the city and awardthempunishment.

He sympathised and condoled with the families of victims of violence in Malir, Khokharapar and Landhi.

Raza Haroon also appealed to the masses and party activists to remain calm and maintain peace.
