KARACHI: Karachi traders have announced strike today to protest against extortionist mafia, kidnapping for ransom and lawlessness in the metropolis, on the call of All Karachi Tajir Ittehad (AKTI).
Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry had called off the strike, which has caused estrangement between the two groups of Karachi traders.
The Muttahida Qaumi Movement has announced that it would support the strike called by the AKTI.
Leaders of the KCCI — who last week announced that they would go on strike after hundreds of shopkeepers staged a protest demonstration on M. A. Jinnah Road and demanded action against the scourge — sounded convinced about the ‘promised measures’ and decided to defer their protest to April 12.
