ISLAMABAD: Director General FIA Waseem Ahmed has resign from his post and IG Police Balochistan Malik Iqbal has been appointed new DG of the agency.
DG FIA sent his resignation to Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani on Wednesday.
Waseem Ahmed in his letter state that he doesn't want to be a reason of conflict between the judiciary and the executive. I didn't try to influence any case and performed my duty with honesty, he added.
Supreme Court had objected over appointment of Waseem Ahmed on the top slot of FIA in various cases including Hajj preparations corruption case, NICL case and other important cases.
Following the resignation of Waseem Ahmed, IG Balochistan Malik Muhammed Iqbal has been appointed the new DG FIA.
