LAHORE, March 07 : Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif has suggested to Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani to convene an All Parties Conference (APC) in which leadership of judiciary and army should also be invited for discussing current challenges faced by the country.
Talking to media persons after inaugurating the three-day anti-polio campaign at his residence in Model Town area on Monday, the chief minister said that he telephoned the prime minister on direction of the PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif in which they discussed prevailing law and order situation in the country.
He said that he also suggested to Prime Minister Gilani that it is need of the hours that all political forces as well as leadership of judiciary and military of the country should be sit together for addressing all challenges facing the country.
"With national thinking, we can implement all proposals given by all the stakeholders during meetings," Shahbaz Sharif said.
He said that all political parties should join their hands and play vital role to resolve all crises facing the country to bring the country on path of development.
Shahbaz said that he talked to the prime minister on gas load-shedding in Punjab and urged him to resolve the issue otherwise workers and owners of industries would launch a long march. He said he very hardly convinced the industrial workers and owners not to launch the long march.
To a question, he said that Punjab Assembly would decide whether he is a majority leader or not.
Talking about the anti-polio campaign, the chief minister vowed that polio would be eliminated from the province, and he directed the concerned authorities to make sure that every child gets the polio drops.
