SARGODHA, March 04 : Hundreds of citizens Friday took to streets and held protest demonstration against the alleged torture of police on women and labourers in a suburban area here.
The protestors chanted slogans against police and a local landlord for their alleged highhandedness.
Earlier, uniformed police personnel backed by a local influential landlord Shaukat Hayat, barged into the homes of labourers Gulzar and his neighbour in a suburban area of Sargodha and allegedly tortured women and children.
The police officials in uniforms tortured aged as well as young women and tore their clothes.
A large number of residents of the area gathered after hearing cries of women and requested the police to stop their violence. But the police did not respond and continued humiliating the women.
Later the police left after threatening the residents to involve them in cases of severe crimes.
