Lahore: Automobile spare parts market gutted in Lahore

LAHORE, March 25 : Rubber Tyres and automobile spare parts worth millions of rupees were burnt when fire erupted in a tyre market on Friday.

According to police, the fire broke out in tyre shop located in Akbar Chowk area of the city due to electric short circuit.

The fire spread rapidly and engulfed the nearby shops. The fire further spread when the rubber tyres and Mobil oil in the shops and godowns caught fire.

Fire tenders and Rescue 1122 reached the scene and started rescue operation. The fire was extinguished after one hour struggle but meantime tyres, Mobil oil and autos spare parts worth millions of rupees were burnt.

The affected shopkeepers have held the WAPDA responsible for the incident and demanded of the provincial government for compensation to restart their business to earn livelihood for their families.

One the other hand, WAPDA officials rejected the accusation and said that most of such incidents were caused due to carelessness and they were not responsible for each and every electric short circuit
